New Usage Report Now Available for Microsoft Outlook on Windows


Great news for IT admins and Microsoft 365 users! Microsoft has officially rolled out a new Usage Report that covers both the New and Classic versions of Outlook for Windows. This update is now available across all Microsoft 365 tenants, helping organizations better understand how their users are engaging with Outlook.

The new report allows you to filter and analyze usage data over several timeframes:

Last 7 days
Last 30 days
Last 90 days
Last 180 days

Transition Timeline

While Microsoft encourages all organizations to begin moving toward the New Outlook for Windows, the Classic Outlook isn’t going away just yet. Microsoft has committed to supporting the classic experience until 2029, giving IT teams plenty of time to manage a smooth, phased transition.

Step-by-Step: How to Access the New Outlook Usage Report

Step 1: Sign in to Microsoft 365 Admin Center

Go to admin.microsoft.com

Sign in with your global admin or report reader credentials

Step 2: Navigate to Reports

On the left-hand menu, click Reports

Then select Usage

Step 3: Find the Outlook Report

Under the available reports, look for Outlook (New and Classic)
Click on it to open the detailed report dashboard

Step 4: Apply Date Filters

At the top-right of the report page, you’ll see the Date filter

You can filter by:

Last 7 days
Last 30 days
Last 90 days
Last 180 days

Step 5: Analyze the Data

View metrics like:

Number of users on New Outlook vs Classic Outlook
